The Green Light

The North East Kingdom Backcountry Coalition (NEKBC) has been given the green light by VT Department of Forests Parks and Recreation to start cutting ski lines off of Mount Hor in Willoughby State Forest. This project is very exciting as it is the first of its kind in a VT State Forest. VT FPR has designated a small pilot area for us to start in so that they can monitor the effects during the 2016-17 season.

We will work from 9 am to 4 pm both Saturday 11/26 and Sunday 11/27. Bring gloves and appropriate clothing. Most of the work will be in dragging brush and deadfall as the cutting will be done with chainsaws and brush saws. This mechanical cutting will be done by designated operators. Bring hand saws and loppers if you have them.

Meet at the Herbert Hawks trail head at 9am.
